Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Oh...Em...Gee! I always wanted to say that. So not only is a sequel to one of my favoritest movies of all time coming out...but it also stars one of my favoritest actors (shush, I make up words as I go). Wall Street 2 starring Shia LeBouef. Sequels usually stink more than a dirty diaper but since Oliver Stone directed the first one and he's directing this one it should be a blasty blast. Martin and Charlie Sheen make appearances in the movie also playing the same characters, of course. Can't wait to see it! Well...I CAN wait, but you know what I mean.

A Freddy Remake? Really?

I'm doing my usual morning routine, reading Google News, and I come across an article about a remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The first thought on my mind was, "oh great, another whack remake." Then I see that Jackie Earle Haley is playing Mr. Kreuger himself and I think, "Hmmm. This could be interesting." If that name doesn't ring a bell, he played Rorschach in Watchmen. Then I watch the trailer and I'm like, "Oh really? Yeah, this looks pretty damn sick." (I talk to myself a lot if you haven't noticed.) But I'm not done yet. I do my due diligence and find out that Samuel Bayer is directing this flick. You mean you don't know Samuel Bayer? Yeah, me neither because he's only directed music videos! Who does he think he is? Spike Jonze? Then I see who wrote the screenplay and the writers don't have anything of importance on their resume so now I'm having second thoughts. Either this is going to be a sleeper hit or a huge mistake. Given that I LOVE scary movies and Nightmare just happens to be my favorite (because it scared me the most as a kid) this movie better rock or I'm gonna hurt someone...and it might be you! Mwahaha!

Summer Movie Fun!

If you know me, and you probably do because I'm famous, then you know that I heart movies! If I could only do one thing for the rest of my life, watching movies would be it...and eating food, but that's another blog entry. If you haven't done so already go and pick up the latest issue of The Improper Bostonian. In it you'll read about all the new movies coming out. A few that I've noted...and put on my Must See Movie List (yes, I do have one):

Pee Wee's Big Adventure | Coolidge Corner Theatre | August 22, 12am
Who doesn't love this classic 80's movie! Pee Wee had the coolest bike with the craziest gadgets on it. Remember all the weird little toys he had?

The Princess Bride | Coolidge Corner Theatre | August 17, 7pm
I remember when I watched Saw the first time, I was like, hey...I know that dude from somewhere! Best line in the movie, "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Tyson | Brattle Theatre | August 12, 5:30pm & 9:30pm
Arguably the greatest boxer of all-time, in my eyes at least. I saw this documentary already but not on the big screen. Definitely a very moving film that gives you a glimpse into the mad mad world of Mike Tyson.

Ghostbusters | Brattle Theatre | August 21, 22, 23, 24, 9:30pm
Who you gonna call? Well it depends what you need. So if you have a leaky faucet you might wanna call a plumber...but if your leaky faucet is due to an annoying little ghost, yeah, you might wanna give the Ghostbusters a ring.

Review: The Departed

The Departed is the first Scorcese movie I have seen in theaters and it not let me down. It has taken in $27 million over the weekend to top the box office (a little less than I had predicted). The cast was phenomenal and the action was top-notch.

I see quite a few Oscar nods for this movie: Best Actor, DiCaprio; Best Supporting Actor, Jack Nicholson; Best Adapted Screenplay, William Monohan; Best Director, Martin Scorcese; Best Film Editing and Best Picture.

Everything about this movie was great. The character development for the all the main characters were on point, the writing was true to Boston (count how many time they say "prick" and call each other "faggot"), and the action, although not so graphic, was indeed spontaneous. This movie was so good I saw it twice and the interesting thing I realized is that every part that needed a reaction got exactly the reaction that was intended. People laughed on cue, they gasped on cue, and the Oh-shits were on cue. Can't forget about the Brockton mention in the movie too (one of Nicholson's goons lived with his mom in Brockton).

Watch this movie! Watch this movie! You will not be upset especially with the climactic ending! Watch it and let me know what you think.
